Chapter 20:
Splendor in the Red Chamber (1)

When Su Chunchun woke up, her body was trembling on its own. As if trying to steady herself, she raised her hands to embrace herself but instead immediately felt the chill on her arms. She then realized that she must have been freezing right now.

In every world, she doesn’t stay for too long. As long as the main plot was finally completed, she would automatically leave.

Just like what happened in the previous world. Since the script ended with the main couple getting married, she chose to marry Han Xiping while feigning amnesia. The wedding then sealed the ending of the original storyline. Once the plot ends. her consciousness is guaranteed to leave that world within three days.

On the day of her wedding, she pretended to have regained her memories. She then sent a message to Han Xiping before running away... She leisurely played around in that world for three more days; and when she woke up again, she found herself in this unfamiliar place.

She was squatting in a corner at this moment. Through the window, she could see that the sky outside was still dim. And as she looked around to investigate, she could vaguely discern that the area she was in is a wooden room. On one side, there was a large kang-style [1] bed that was typical of ancient times, where she spotted several people sleeping side by side.

It seemed that this time around she had awakened in an ancient version of herself, whose body must have also been pushed out of bed by someone else.

Seeing that it would still be an hour before daylight set in, she got up and moved her stiff limbs, quietly climbing into bed while in the veil of darkness and choosing to lie down on the most vacant spot she could find.

The rest of the bed was already crowded with people; but for some reason, the area next to one girl was a little empty—a clear indication that she must have been the leader of the group.

As she flopped herself over the warm quilt, she didn't feel much sensation herself. However, her body did instinctively relax while her stiff muscles gradually eased.

Only then was she able to close her eyes in peace, taking the opportunity to organize the memories of this body.

This body was only thirteen years old, which explained why she felt her limbs were delicate and tender and her stature slightly small when she stood up earlier.

The group of people she shared the bed with were not so different as they were also all girls of similar age. They were mostly orphans blessed with some appearance, adopted by the same man who teaches them various assassination techniques daily.

It seemed that she was being trained as one of the assassins this time. However, the original Su Chunchun was extremely clumsy in this regard, not being able to master any of the daily teachings. If it weren't for her good looks, she would have probably been discarded long ago. And it was precisely because of this that she was ostracized among the group of girls.

Su Chunchun pursed her lips. Currently, she could only obtain this much information from the memories of the original body. The rest would have to wait until she encountered the raider to learn more about this world through them.

However, she did have a premonition that the mastermind behind this group of young female assassins, if not the male lead, should be the raider.

But for now, what she needed to do was figure out how not to be bullied among this group of girls. After all, it would be a long time before she could meet that man. And whether it was in skills or assassination techniques, she ranked at the bottom list.

Thinking of this, she gave the sleeping girl beside her a slight glance. In the faint light, the person’s delicate features became more visible. Even in her sleep, the beautiful brows were tightly furrowed, and between its delicate peaks, a hint of cold sharpness could already be seen.

This person’s name is Leng Xi, and she’s the most outstanding among the girls of her age.

Su Chunchun slightly curled her lips.

Sensing that her body should have warmed up by now, she couldn't help but move closer to the person beside her, carefully lifting a corner of the blanket. In no time, Leng Xi felt cold and instinctively moved towards the warmth, extending her arm and pulling the heat source into her embrace.

Su Chunchun dared not move, afraid of waking her up. It was only after a while that she breathed out a sigh of relief upon realizing that the other person was still deep in her sleep. She then allowed herself to close her eyes, eventually drifting off.

...

The next day, as daylight filled the room, the people in the room began to stir as if by habit.

But the next moment, they all froze in place—because lying on the bed, cuddling with Senior Sister Leng, wasn't it that useless person?

Leng Xi had always been the first to wake up among this group of people. But today, she felt the blanket was exceptionally warm and comfortable. Plus, there was a soft and fragrant pillow in her arms, making her more unwilling to leave the bed for a little longer.

So, it wasn't until some murmurs of surprise that arose around her that she finally fluttered her eyes open. After a brief moment of daze, her expression eventually regained clarity.

The next moment, just as she was about to raise her hand, her body stiffened as she found someone nestled on her arms with slightly frizzy locks and a delicate fair skin that resembled fine white jade. In fact, her skin was now tinged with a rosy hue from the warmth, making it especially more tender and enticing.

"Senior Sister Leng, why are you cuddling with that useless person?" One of the girls nearby couldn’t suppress their curiosity as she hesitantly spoke up.

Leng Xi was stunned. Only then did she realize that she had indeed voluntarily cuddled the person in her arms. Since coming here, how long had it been since she had cuddled with someone?

Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly pushed the person away with her hand! She looked at Su Chunchun with a cold expression.

Being tossed around like this, Su Chunchun couldn’t help but rouse from her sleep even if she didn’t want to.

She grumbled twice. Rubbing her eyes, she looked around with a dazed gaze, becoming more confused, as she perceived everyone around her giving her strange expressions.

As Su Chunchun gradually woke up, her shoulders began to shrink slightly for a moment. She instinctively bent her legs as she moved to hug herself. Although her expression was a little worried, it was not timid. She only tilted her head as she looked at everyone. “Why are you all crowding around me so early in the morning?"

She remained as straightforward as ever, without showing any fear towards them in her words and without the guilt of sneaking onto the bed at midnight. Her delicate demeanor even showed a hint of innocent reproach.

The girls already despised her for being such a useless waste who couldn't learn anything, but they couldn’t stand it even more whenever the instructors always seemed to favor her and let her stay until now.

Therefore, the girl standing on the side could not help but exclaim at her while glaring fiercely. "Who allowed you to sleep here?! A waste like you don't even deserve to sleep on the bed!"

"It's not like I climbed up here by myself." Su Chunchun pouted, looking somewhat annoyed. But the points she focused on were all wrong!

Hearing this, she somehow managed to provoke the girls, who in turn sarcastically remarked, "It's really funny. Since you didn't climb up by yourself, then did someone else carry you onto the bed in the middle of the night?"

Su Chunchun was stunned for a moment. Then she glanced at Leng Xi, who was only indifferent and had started to dress. She couldn’t help but feel wronged.

"It's just not me!” She turned her head angrily as if stubbornly insisting on something important.

Her childish retort easily ignited the anger out of the crowd. "You still won't admit it?"

Su Chunchun didn't say anything but instead looked at Leng Xi who was only watching coldly from the side with a face of grievance. She was undeniably beautiful. Her peach blossom-like eyes [2] were filled with a hint of watery light resembling a bullied kitten, softening the hearts of those who saw her.

Feeling somewhat guilty, Leng Xi suppressed the urge to turn her head away to avoid the other's aggrieved expression. But seeing that someone was about to step forward and speak more, she coldly spoke, "Enough nonsense. Class is about to start. Hurry up, and get yourself ready for the assembly."

She finished speaking and left first. The others looked at each other before proceeding to walk after Leng Xi, leaving Su Chunchun behind.

Once everyone had left, Su Chunchun sat on the edge of the bed swinging her fair feet. Her starry eyes twinkled while a smile played on her lips.

[2] "Peach blossom-like eyes" typically refers to eyes that are bright, lively, and charming, often likened to the delicate and attractive appearance of peach blossoms. It implies that the person's eyes have a soft and appealing quality, similar to the beauty of blooming peach flowers.
